On 17th May, CSR Europe hosted in Brussels the first focus group of the collaborative platform on tax responsibility and transparency.
At the event, platform partners – including Enel, Fortum, Grundfos, Ørsted, and Vattenfall amongst others – presented their plans for the development of a Tax Index to key stakeholders from business, European institutions, financial institutions, academia, and civil society.
The Index will assess how companies, from all sectors, perform in terms of tax transparency and responsible tax behaviour.
At the event, partners shared critical elements related to tax transparency and reporting, including:
-
Tax policy and strategy – how do businesses publicly disclose their approach to tax?
-
Tax function management – do businesses disclose their tax governance and control frameworks?
-
Tax governance – is there a responsible governance body that oversights the business activities of the tax policy and strategy implementation?
-
Public transparency – do businesses publicly disclose their complete financial statements, including tax?
Companies interested to learn more about the platform can contact CSR Europe to express their interest.
